You're wise enough to know better, though. Adventurers don't have wide scars across their palms and ritual tools stashed in their closets. Some of the more unsavory practitioners of thaumaturgy will outsource their sacrifices, entreating dark forces with foreign blood, and there's much coin to be made for those willing to get their hands dirty. He was no adventurer.
He was a cult's button man.Thankfully, it seems he's since given up that life. Nowadays he lives in solitude on a quiet plot somewhere in Vylbrand, raising dzo and karakul with his partners, and stretching out his hand to any passers by. Khaishan has a soft spot for the downtrodden. You, Warrior of Light, are no exception - if anything, he holds a very special and deep place in his heart for you. Maybe he seeks redemption, or maybe you're simply different. Could be a combination of both.
Either way, it grants you a peek into his life that many seldom get.Khaishan was born on the Steppe, raised under the banner of the Oronir for the first thirteen years of his life. In a deeply vulnerable moment, he tearfully confided to you the details of his home life during those years - of the abuse, both mental and physical, that he suffered at the hands of his begrudging parents: the pressure he felt being both his sister's primary guardian and a poster prodigy for his tribe: the loneliness of his destiny, supposedly fated to find his lunar equal, only to determine that she was nowhere nearby.
And so, he fled across the Ruby Tide, and then to the continent of Eorzea.Things didn't get much better from there. Investigation into the now-defunct Zealots of Dantalion revealed it to be the cult he operated under many years ago, picked up very shortly after he hit land in the Bay of Dha'yuz.
